Movies LISTEN NOW  Despite its style and flash, Takers suffers from clichés, a lack of originality and moral ambiguity.  This visual feast offers some lovely moments, but ultimately lacks spiritual depth and compelling romance
 This graphic novel adaptation is a hilarious and action-packed homage to comic books, video games, punk rocks--and great cinema. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and a host of other action stars from yesteryear blow up theaters with one of the year's bloodiest movies.
 Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have great chemistry in this serviceable comedy, which re-imagines the buddy-cop genre for millennials.  This romantic drama set against the sailing culture of the Pacific Northwest has a supernatural twist. And yes, Zac Efron can act.  Almost 10 years after the original movie, canines everywhere are in big trouble--if dogs and cats can't figure out a way to play nice for long enough to stop the mean cats from taking over.  The classic children's books come to life as Ramona tries her best to keep the Quimby family afloat. Angelina Jolie plays a CIA agent who might also be a Russian assassin in this enjoyably fast-paced but frustratingly unresolved action thriller.  Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated sci-fi action thriller is a brilliant and brainy masterpiece that demands to be seen again ... and again.  This fantasy film lacks the magic to truly cast the audience in its spell.  A surprisingly charming and hilarious animated feature about a super villain whose life is changed in surprising ways. Nearly 25 years after the original, this worthy sequel does well in building suspense and intrigue, but ultimately settles into predictable action and violence. The successful children's adventure series could have made for a stellar big-screen blockbuster. Unfortunately, this isn't it.  Despite the star power and onscreen chemistry of Cruise and Diaz, this wild and crazy action/comedy just has too many holes to work well. In what might be Pixar's best movie ever, Andy heads off to college while Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang face a new and more dangerous life. |
