Black Union symposium.
 During opening news conference for the Great Gathering Dr. Staccato Powell, Pastor of the Grace AME Zion Church in Raleigh, North Carolina talks about the importance of the event.  Before taking the stage at the Great Gathering, Cornel West speaks about his love for the black community.

Mrs. Edelman, a graduate of Spelman College and Yale Law School, began her career in the mid-60s when, as the first black woman admitted to the Mississippi Bar, she directed the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund office in Jackson, Mississippi.
